New at the Institute: Jie Yang

October 2, 2021

Jie Yang is a new visiting Ph.D. student in the group of Prof. Dr. Christian Holm, where she will focus on the ionic transport at the charged surface, especially under confinement using Classical density functional theory (CDFT).

During her bachelor’s study at the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) in China, she had some experimental training in nanopore sensing, characterizing the single molecular behavior under nanoconfinement. Through her doctoral study in ECUST, she investigated the charging mechanism of supercapacitors including both equilibrium and dynamic properties by CDFT and continuum models, with the hope that high-performance energy-storage materials could be designed.

Starting from September 2021, Jie Yang will have a one-year study at ICP, focusing on developing simulation methods to capture the confinement effects on ionic charging behavior.
