SUMMARY:ICP Kolloquium: Prof. Dr. Annette Andrieu-Brunsen
DESCRIPTION:Prof. Dr. Annette Andrieu-BrunsenErnst-Berl Institut für Technische und Makromolekulare Chemie,Smart MembranesTechnische Universität Darmstadt\n"Polyelectrolyte-functionalized mesopores to adjust ionic pore accessibility"\nAbstract:\nIn contrast to technological pores, biological pores and channels demonstrate highly precisetransport being directed, highly selective, fast, and gated. A key factor to this performance istheir nanoscale structure and local control on charge regulation. Inspired by this performanceand nanoscale precision we are interested in understanding charge regulation in confined space and in designing precisely functionalized nanoscale porous materials to understand and advance transport performance of technological pores. This talk will give insights into polymerization control and polyelectrolyte functionalization of silica mesoporous films. Selected examples demonstrating the resulting ionic mesopore accessibility, determined by polymer chain architecture, polymer amount, monomer charge, and spatial confinement will be given. Charge-regulation in spatial confinement of mesopores and its influence on ionic transport in mesopores will be discussed.
