"Water Under Confinement: From Molecular Anomalies to Nanomaterials for Water Remediation"
Abstract:
Water exhibits a range of anomalous properties that become even more pronounced under nanoconfinement. In this talk, I discuss how molecular simulations help elucidate the behavior of water near nanoscale interfaces and inside nanostructured materials. I will present results on the properties of confined water, highlighting how confinement and surface interactions modify its behavior. Building on these insights, I will also discuss how carbonbased nanomaterials can be designed to enhance the adsorption and removal of contaminants from water. These results illustrate how a fundamental understanding of water at the nanoscale can guide the development of advanced materials for environmental remediation
